Venetian Video Poker Tournaments

Las Vegas Venetian Casino Video Poker Games and Venetian Video Poker Tournaments

Venetian Video Poker - Palazzo Video PokerThe Venetian Casino in Las Vegas offers a great selection of video poker games and often also offer video poker tournaments. The video poker tournaments at the Venetian are held on special tournament only IGT video poker machines. Video poker tournament structures vary at the Venetian, and they can change at any time, but usually the video poker tournaments works like this:

Each player receives 800 credits (enough to play 160 hands) per session. The tournament is run in two sessions with a time limit of 20 minutes per session. You play until either you run out of time or you run out of credits, whichever comes first. The highest score wins the tournament. Part of the winnings are usually given away in a ticketless lottery type drawing, and the number of chances a player gets in the drawing is based on how they did in the video poker tournament.

One other thing about the video poker tournament at the Venetian; it uses a different pay table than standard video poker. (Although a good 9/6 Jacks or Better video poker strategy should work well enough for purposes of the poker tournament.) Here's the modified payout table for the Venetian video poker tournaments:

royal flush 750
straight flush 500
4 of a kind, aces 400
4 of a kind, face cards 250
other 4 of a kind 100
flush 75
straight 50
trips 40
2 pair 30
pair of jacks or better 20

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the video poker tournaments at the Venetian might be invitation based. If you're not a member of the slots club, you're probably missing out on the opportunity to play in these events.

At the Palazzo (which as an extension of the Venetian), you can find full pay 9/6 Jacks or Better games outside the high limit slots salon. These are available in $1, $2, and $5 denominations. This information is current as of late January 2008, but the casino resort just opened in December, so this situation may change at some point. But between the 99.54% return on the Jacks or Better games and the slots club, this is a great value for the savvy video poker gambler.

At the time of this writing, the Venetian slots club offers 0.08% as cash back on slot machine play. You can choose to also take the rewards as comps at a rate of 0.16%, which is a lot better, in my opinion. Or you can choose to take the rewards at a rate of 0.24% for bonus wagering credits, which I think is the worst of the three options. They also offer consistent offers in the mail in addition to what's available through their slot club card.
